Token of Remembrance Page 2

Token of Remembrance was the beginning of my habit of incorporating as many techniques as I can in one project and my fascination with hand dyed silk fabric. I had originally completed all of the bouquets in a shiny rayon fabric and when I took it into the shop where I was currently working, one of the owners made the comment that it would look much nicer with real silk flowers rather than the rayon that I had used. I went back home, ordered white silk, read about how to dye it and created my own fabrics for all of the bouquets, a trend I have continued since then. She was absolutely correct. There is nothing like silk dimensional flowers.

All of the gold lame is tricot backed. I find this much easier to work with than tissue lame and it has a nicer sheen. The fans were all fused down and embellished with lace trim, with beads and Austrian crystal accents.
The beading along the applique edges was done while I was appliqueing the fabrics. Although I like a complicated  look, if I can complete two tasks at one time, I will.
