The fun part was using my own hand dyed silk ribbons, silks, velvets and cottons to mimic real life textures in the rose petals, pansies, daffodils and other flowers throughout the quilt. Different shape beads were used to create the molding and trim of the Georgian Manor. Brass findings were attached to the album to mimic gilded corners. Shirring, (a gathering technique used in smocking), was used to create a rippled peacock tail. Inked insets in the urn and vase, reverse appliqued lame in the lyre and more elaborate beaded applique on the cornucopia are just a few more of the ideas that make these album blocks a unique challenge.

non-traditional color scheme.
